No, I don't hate anything BL produced. Just not a fan of them. I grew up in the West Midlands, knew people who worked on the BL lines, heard the horror stories of quality control and cost cutting in the 1970's and my first car was an Austin Allegro!

I am a fan of Morris Minors. Such a shame it all wen down hill afterwards :-(

On that top gear program, I wanted the BL cars to do better.

I promised I wouldn't do this, but since Top Gear keep boogering up decent classic cars, I will reveal the identity of The Stig. Well both of them actually as there are curently two. Tiff and Damon. Sorry Mr Clarkson, payback is a bitch.

sorry for my stupid question what is a stig and by tiff and damonare you referring to Damon Hill and Tiff Needle the one who drifted the Morris Minor?

Yes! Tiff Needell. He was a decent presenter on Top Gear and can actually drive competetively (he was a racing driver). His first car was a Minor. He drifted it to demonstrate that the Moggie is a drivers car.

He also raced and owned Porsche 944 and has nothing but good things to say about that model too.

The Stig is the name given to the Top Gear "Racing Driver" that sets the lap times for the various cars they test on the track. The first Stig was Perry McCarthy. Damon Hill and Tiff Needle now take turns 'allegedly'. Tiff does the majority of the shows though.

They keep it secret because top gear and 5th gear are competing motoring programs.

When Hamster had his accident, there was a quote in the press from Mr McCarthy, also known as The Stig.

I personally do not watch the programme, I used to but got so fed up with them incouraging drivers to drive as if they own a ferrari and are on a clear road (or own the road) I always say big ego little.... but that is purely a girlie idea I suppose, I just think they should concentrate on making people think ! if they are going to drive around like idiots forcing every one else out of the way with their bad driving lets have some idea of the problems this causes, most people who drive like racing drivers are not racing drivers and forget they are in a killing machine!!! I will get off my box now ( I do work at a hospital and travel to work in my Moggy and get cut up and raced off the road for driving at the proper limits and with forsight of what the idiot drivers are doing, and I see the after effects of the bad driving when they come into the hospital a little bit mangled or worse the poor beggar that they have mangled comes in)GGGRRRRR

Quite right! Performance driving should be reserved for the track day only.

I do think that Top Gear is meant to be more about light entertainment these days, rather than any great car reviewing mechanism. I also think Clarkson is playing up to a caricature, he's meant to be an insolent, contradictory hypocrite. Which is funny, but what he says about cars is usually utter rubbish. I do think James May has a respect for the car as a machine rather than just 'super cars'.
