bm, thats interesting to hear, are there any implications in terms of safety/handling when lowering using the method you mention? Is it something that I could ask my mechanic to do and he would know how to approach it? (I love getting my hands dirty but fear this would beyond my facilities and abilities).
ginger, thanks for the link, had a look though from the general impression I get from people's comments it sounds potentially like a bad idea.

If you lower too much then the car will hammer it's bump stops, and indeed the front suspension arms will clatter the tie-plates as the bump stops collapse. At the rear - if/when the bump stops break off then the prop shaft can hit the tunnel and the dampers can run out of travel.

Ok cool, I'll bear that in mind and have a chat with my mechanic, he is fairly well versed in older cars and has MOT'ed my car for about 5 years so should be able to work something out if I choose to lower it.
Thanks for the advice, George

Another LCV advantage - no tunnel, more travel and tele dampers...
