Richard, the point I was making, was in regard to the inner arrangement of the tube area, having spent some time duplicating the factory set-up,it became apparent that the replacement legs fall short in this respect, although some make the effort to 'double skin' the original double up on the bottom but up the sides it is shaped and not welded hard against the leg walls, will try to post a pic.

But you do need to dismantle it all - it's going to need complete re-bushing anyway - and no, nothing should fly in your face!
Obviously - support the car as high as you can - and as solidly as you can - but without 'twisting' it or it will remain twisted after you weld on the new chassis leg.

Sorry about the delay, here is the inner strengthening of the eye bolt area. (chassis leg is upside down in photo with bottom of the leg removed)

Is it? Looks like the top of the leg to me - aren't those flanges at the top?.

But I don't think all replacement legs are strengthened like that !

Isn't that just for the LCV chassis??? The saloon/Trav/Convertible doesn't have that piece.

Yes it's an lcv chassis, although I see no reason why the saloons etc should be any weaker. Perhaps they are, I don't know.

They can be weaker because the "chassis leg" is actually part of the monocoque construction, being spot welded to the main body of the car.

As an aside, I wonder if the Minor is the only car to have had both seperate chassis (LCV's) and monocoque versions (Saloons/ travs)????

I can't think of any others off hand.

Mmm, I hadn't thought of it that way, out of interest is it definately a fact that the saloons etc are not the same as the lcv?

Saloons have no chassis!

But they do have a very similar section in the same place!

I wouldn't know, as wouldn't Les, hence the question. I imagine.
