Really? I'm fascinated. Where did you source that information? No sarcasm intended, btw

This website:
http://home.vicnet.net.au/~mmccv/history.html
Tells you a bit about the history of the Morris Minor. It doesnt go into great detail compaired to some of the articles I have read but about 3/4 down the page it says:
"There were a total of eight prototype cars built before production of the Minor commenced."

Skilleter states that 7 of the 8 are known to have been scrapped/dismantled by Cowley & the fate of 1 is unknown.

bigginger wrote:The flat 4 was never made, and so never fitted. The Mosquito ran 800 and 1100 side valves through a 3 speed column change 'box. See Paul Skilleter's 'Morris Minor, the world's aupreme small car'.
Sorry Andrew I did not see your ealier post! That has cleared a few things up!
Apparently there was one made that did have the Flat Four engine inside it. It is still around but before the car was passed on the original sidevalve engine was put back in.

Theres loads of info in 'Morris MInor; exploring the legend' by Jon Pressnell.
Apparently 2 of the mosquitos did have flat-four engines (an 800 and 1100)

I was echoing BigGs referal to "Morris Minor The Worlds Supreme Small Car" by Paul Skilleter. He states that a true prototype vehicle (such as the 8 Mosquitos) would be dismantled at the end of its useful life & there is documentary evidence of 7 having been done so.
