I think the brake return springs are supposed to go on the other side of the shoes so they pull the shoes towards the backplates.

fantastic work, the whole underside is virtually new!!!! yes swap the springs to the back of the shoes

so how much is still original there? Looks like theres virtually nothing left of the car and its all new!!

Naadeslaus, I just want to say how great I think your work is, I am 16 and currently working on my first minor project (Just doing a respray, I can't do all the mechanical bits!) But i really hope that some day I will be able to completely rebuild and restore a minor like you are doing. You're quite an inspiration!

Doing a good job, just wish I had the time and space to be able to crack on with my three moggs. I've got to get a move on as I'm going on the MOT next year!!
