I saw my moggie on the side of the road in a very rough area of Newcastle in October last year.He was in a sad,sad state.Kids had broken the side window to nick the tax,the engine had been vandalised and the control box, solenoid, fuel pump, coil HT lleads and flasher unit were gone and the plugs were smashed to bits for good measure !The rear wings were held on by gaffa tape and the interior was rotten (the exhaust had been pinched as well ! ) I tracked down the owner and I agreed to take it off his hands for fifty quid.I have spent the winter tracing parts, rebuilding the entire brake system and the slow process of the bodywork. He is now a lot happier and almost ready for his MOT.I have loved working on him from the off and can't wait to get him on the road.

I got my morris minor from my parents for my 18th Birthday!
She was prevously owned by my aunties dad and before that a local nurse.
It still has the original gloucestershire number plate (where it still lives and works!).
The car is completely original and most components are still the orginal factory fitted ones!!!!
It has so far covered 55,000 from new and i am enjoying every second of it!
I have always been interested in classics as i have looked after my dads Sunbeam Alpine Mk4 For years!

I love all old cars. Always wanted a moggie but living in oz there were just too many old mazdas for me to own first. I also love the mazda roatary engine. Fast forward to last year and my girlfriend decided she was wanting another traveller as we had just had to scrap her old 57 trav.(it was soooo knackered). We bought the 58 trav from the auto trader unseen for £1200 and a couple of friends went to Edinburgh to pick it up for us and bring back to Mull.
About 4 months later I put a huge hole in the sump and destroyed the engine. Now I am 14 months into an engine, gearbox, differential, fully programmable ecu, conversion. Cant wait for it to be finished and hopefully see 200+ hp.
cheers,michael.

great stories all! Love to read some more.
A bit more about how I lucked into mine. My client had known of my love for Mini Coopers over the years, we always enjoyed swapping stories about our old car escapades. He was from England originally, so he was one of the few people I knew that understood what Mini Coopers were all about. I guess it comes down to being in the right place at the right time. I have had my car just about 10 years, and still I can't wait to get in and go for a ride.

It might be worth making this topic sticky so that new web site users see it when they come here.

Morris here, new body on the forum.
Interested in old cars in general, Moggies because there has been one under wraps at my grandfathers house for as long as I can remember - and I have been vetoed from reparing it.
*shuffles about uncertainly*
I got my own Moggy this afternoon, not sure what year it is, guessing '71/2, reg no TNY 570G (that should tell me really, but as a Guernseyman, I don't know).
Four door saloon, maroon in colour with red interior trim. Lots of welding to be done, can't wait to get started.
Anyway, hello everyone!
*waves greasy spanner enthusiastically*

Thanks - I'm used to having a five digit number which doesn't have all these funny letters in it!

Here our tale:
When Wifey was about six years old one of her teachers had an Almond Green Traveller. Wifey has wanted one ever since. Fast forward many years...
Wifey is heading for a significant birthday (30th) and I'm casting around trying to think of something to get her. In March last year we passed a Trav and she made some comment about how nice it looked. I combed most of the south of England looking for the right car, and eventually I drove into the garden on her birthday in a ribbon-bedecked Hermione
I started to think of interesting things to do with/to the car, and when Wifey said "hands off!" I went looking for one of my own. I found the Lemming near Liphook in Hampshire, looking very tidy and begging to go faster
