Ahh - the good old days - me too! Came with a spray gun - sprayed a Mini on the back lawn - bright orange - and the lawn too! In fact I have a mate who has recently sprayed the front end of his MGC with a vac cleaner - and it is absolutely perfect - not a sign of orange peel or any runs - gleaming deep red - a real professional finish!

I remember that folk used to use oxygen to power their spray gun - highly dodgy, but my mate did even worse - he didn't have any oxygen, so used propane. When this started to ice, he started the car - Minor Van, and placed cylinder beside exhaust. What made it even worse was it was all done in an underground car park.
When I saw what he was doing, I recommended quite strongly he stop, then left quickly when he wouldn't.

Most people seem to be aware of the potential here for serious injury, but should anyone fancy trying this, I'd better make it crystal clear. The MMOC in no way supports the idea, despite it being posted here.

I remember when an oxygen bottle exploded at a local garage about 10 years ago - it blew out all the windows and doors of nearby houses and we heard the blast about half a mile away. Fortunately it was in the middle of the night so nobody was hurt.

Therefore I wouldn't take any chances with this sort of stuff!

'Oxygen ' bottle seems unlikely to explode - acetylene bottle very much more likely - they are extremely dangerous, and Acetylene is classed as an Explosive. But these are very much higher pressure vessels (up to 3000 psi) than my simple arrangement at up to 200 psi. But I agree completely - anyone doing the frig compressor idea does so entirely at their own risk - and they should only do it if they really REALLY know what they are doing!! My ALDI compressor looks terrific - and today I added the air drill and the air chisel, also from Aldi. Anyone want to buy a 'slightly used' Frig compressor ?

Just seen in the Aldi store at Howden, Newcastle on Tyne that they've still got these compressors for sale. They're 24 litre resevoir, 2.5 hp - and only £65! And a 3 year guarantee.
They've also got 4.5 inch angle grinders for £8.99. Regards, MikeN.
