I turned the engine over and let her warm up to keep things running.
Its all academic since the box is going to have to be changed but:
The 'knock' that was in third is now audible in neutral too although nothing as bad as when i was driving in third. Also the gear throw does not really go far enough forward in third, although it happily stays in 3rd if i try and pull off from standing. No expert, but does that sound like the synchro hub for 3/4 or 3rd gear itself is collapsing. either way its off for reconditioning once its out.
