It may take me a touch longer to reach 70 in the short distance between two roundabouts on the ring road
Hmmm still a passive driver then Kate

I already get up at 5:15 in the morning to make it for the start of my shift. A relaxed drive and I might as well not even go to bed. Anyway, the Minor handles so well and is *such* fun to drive... she just cries out for me to use all 60*ish BHP.
*err, maybe, if I'm lucky ;-)

Drive out of Bracknel on a Friday afternoon and anything without 150bhp and ABS is a mobile roadblock. In fact anything with a lesser badge becomes a target as GT's take on GLS's and GLS's take on LX's in the traffic grandprix. Mogs are no exception - it's just more obvious when you're behind the wheel.
Peetee)
Rush hour is the same pretty much anywhere in the country when nearby a major town / city. Too many people in a rush on too few roads leads to a more agressive driving style, and people in a rush don't waste time thinking about the other driver's space.

Erm, Bracknell is doubly unfortunate - first reason is that a large German Car Company has its headquarters near where I work - you know the one with the badge entitling the owner to exclusive use of the right hand lanes on motorways!). One of the company perks is a substantial discount on its own brand, so there's lots of high performance cars around, using the local roads as a test track.
There's also a large supermarket distibution centre.
On Fridays everyone seems to be heading for the M3 or M4 as fast as possible.... now I can overtake a loaded 32 tonne artic; but not the guys who want to drive up my exhaust pipe!
Peetee - give me a wave if you seem me on the A329!

I find drums are fine for everyday use in Dorset.
Of course a lot of people say 'south' when they really mean 'London and surrounding area'.
Contrary to the theory, when I holidayed around the peak district I was constantly hounded by people for going too slow.
As the mog wasn't setup at the time I took a new Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec. Brilliant brakes but dog slow on the hills.
Maybe northerners are only nicer to old cars?

I would if I ever got up there these days. Bracknell was only used to make a point - (it applies to pretty much any southern IT town on a Friday afternoon) - oh and my brother works there and he fits the mould perfectly!

I cooked the hell out of my front brakes holidaying in Corwall.
There was a heatwave there last year and coupled with the hills I just ended up with smoking drums that stank of fish!
However, I've been the bath a few times in the Minor and it survives the local 'Mountain' at abbotsbury - a hill that killed countless of my Dads old cars when I was a lad.

Ray I believe you are well north of Watford, so I'm definitely in the south.
