Just

How much are the filter elements for the 1700s? Or don't you use them?

The oil in a K&N is not for cleaning - it's to make the dust stick!

... and the cleaning fluid that comes with it is for cleaning the old oil OFF!

but how should he know? He doesn't have one
I used to clean mine with petrol though, and then soak them in the oil

Oh I know all about the 'fantastic' K&N - just can't afford one. I think some of the nice copper pan scrubbers from Poundland - packed into the empty casing - with a spray over of wd40 will be just fine !

Ken Johnson and Norm McDonald are the founders, so I found on the net.
They started in 1964 with a motorcycle business (selling and rental)
Then they were asked by several customers for quality airfilters, which would keep the dust out of their beloved engines, when doing off-road racing.
So in 1969 they introduced the K&N High Flow filter. The rest is known I guess

Googling is sooo easy isn't it?

But you run the risk of actually finding a sane and reasonable answer...

Only if they had been Scottish!
Actually, they've both got Scottish surnames so maybe!
