No - the design stayed the same - they just decided grease would do instead of oil.

Spridget racks used oil until a triumph rack was adopted in the mid '70s.... and afaik the spridget rack is the same as the opposite hand drive minor rack....

Nipple removed and all oiled - now why didn't I think of that :oops:
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Apparently, grease in the steering rack makes the steering much stiffer when the weather is cold, hence oil being specified. I use one of the old fashioned push type Tecalemit grease guns that I bought on ebay for a fiver. I keep this one exclusively for the oil, saves messing about emptying out grease! It fits perfectly, being only 8 1/2" long.
