Been to East Kirkby Lincolnshire Aviation Centre today
Got a few interesting motor photos
So I'll put some in here tomorrow as it's a bit late to download them and sort through them right now (If the Edit Button is working tomorrow of course....

)

Well since the other day when the Forums disappeared completely, the Edit button seems to be gone now, in addition to the Delete Button
So photos of motors from the airshow yesterday:
1942 Austin Van... wonder why it needed a Bell, unless it was to let people know the emergency canteen had arrived.

This one was interesting, overheard the owner say it was a replica (originals were built '36-'41) but this is registered as a 1978 Jaguar. According to Wiki, the various replicas began construction in the mid '80s so I think that underneath this is a '78 XJ6

Basil was the only Moggie on show.
The final part of the story was being sat in the carpark of the McDonalds near Sleaford on the way home, chatting on the phone while my son went and got a couple of milkshakes, and there's this chap hovering around looking at Basil..
When I finished the call, he comes up and enquires about whether I'm a Club member; cutting a long story short, it was Bryan the Spares Man.
So a chance meeting in a car park and Bryan didn't get to recruit a new member!

The red one was in regular use until about ten years ago but sadly now appears to have reached the end of the road:-

A few random 'spots' last week. No time for pics...
Thursday in Wolverley: a lovely maroon MG YT Tourer and a little later, a 1994 (M-reg) Lada Riva, also maroon and very clean, with a 'For Sale' sign in the window.
Friday in Caunsall: commonplace 30 years ago but hardly ever seen now, a 1985 (C-reg) Peugeot 305GR estate car. A bit scruffy, white, but surprisingly rust-free.

Uttlesford Branch Rally at Saffron Walden Motor show, well attended with three new recruits to the branch and cars from surrounding branches, Cambridge and North London.
18 Minors in all from 1954 - 1971, including two late Adderley Park travellers. We were joined by a beautiful pre-war Minor and William's gorgeous Landcrab, fresh from his son's wedding in Girton. There was also a nice Morris Cowley pick up and an early beige MO
Once again the biggest Marque at the show by a long way. Weather warm and occasionally gusty with some patters of rain, but nothing to dim the enthusiasm of the day. Our thanks to our guests for braving what originally looked like a horrid day.
Several people wanted details of the MMOC an one German couple wanted to buy a Minor to take back to Germany. We pointed them initially in the direction of the MMOC and Charles Ware.
Local paper's photographer snapping away so hopefully some more exposure for the club and Branch. Thanks to David Milns for the photos.
For those of you who are local, don't forget Hempstead next Sunday (Wychtree Lane) the 19th, Anglesey Abbey on 1/9/2018 (Meet for those not going direct Swan Meadow 0900).
2/9/18 is North London and Middx at Capel Manor. Again meet at Swan Meadow, thence to Thremhall Park to pick up Steve Hazon and on to Capel Manor.
9/9 is the second of Audley End House's car shows. Entry forms available via English Heritage (Historic England) web site and free entry to House and grounds with a classic car.
30/09/2018 Whitewebbs Museum Morris day (9-4)
http://nlm-mmoc.org.uk/html/events.html
6/10 Prickwillow Museum of Fenland Life and a visit to Ian Allen's workshop at Wychford. Details to follow.
All welcome!
