Seems to be alot of debate over the article in Practical Performance Car. I have not read the article myself yet, as my newsagent still had last months mag on the shelf when I checked a few days ago. I would prefer to reply properly to all your comments when I have given the article a thorough read myself, I will be checking the newsagent again tomorrow.

Having read it through, I can see that they have possibly exaggerated the completeness of the car. At the time that the editor contacted me about the car, it was running, but unreliably due to the fuelling system not being up to the job. The main reason for so little progress on the car since then is that I have been away from home at uni, and was unable to bring the car with me. Are all cars exaggerated in the same way? I think it very much depends in the individual cars concerned. All journalism has an element of "optimism" I suppose, so I dont think its fair to criticize PPC specifically.

Got it started today, by rearranging the turbo carb plumbing a bit. I had stuck with the metro turbo configuration of pipes, but swapped them round a bit using my imagination and it appears to run fine now. Will be reconnecting the supercharger belt and see what happens within the next day or so. I need to secure the bonnet and fit new tyres then I should be pretty much sorted for a good test run and MOT etc. Also, insurance quote for 20 year old male driving supercharged morris minor??? any offers???

Sorry to hear that you haven't "claimed any scalps" in it like the article says.

In the photos in the article I couldn't help noticing you don't have anything on the servo take off on the manifold, if that is sucking on air it will never run right.

My advice would be to loose the mitsubishi throttle and just use the carb as normal. Two throttles will never work properly.

As said before my critisism is of the mag not your car. My faith in that mag has probably gone completely. It makes you worry how many other cars they feature dont actually work and they just pretend they do for good copy.

I would have thought PPC would send you a free pre-publication copy of the mag if your car was featured! Or did they just send a nice fat cheque?

The manifold takeoff has been sealed on the inside, not visible in the photos, but thanks for the thought anyway. Instead of the hassle of removing either of the throttle plates, if I decide to do away with one I can just jam it fully open, which means I can change my mind later if I want to revise the setup. does that make sense?

No free copy, no cheque Its been featured by two mags now, I reckon if I am contacted again I should ask for something in return. At least Minor Monthly sent me a couple of free copies!

Got it running with the supercharger this morning, had forgotten how much noise it makes! Seems to run ok with the carb throttle plate jammed open and using the other one as the throttle.

I did notice that in the mag they state that any car featured gets a free 12 month subscription so if you have received nothing then contact and ask for at least that.
