I can do Ashurst tonight, I reckon.

The trav is running better, but not really better (if you see what I mean). Somebody suggested the carb piston might might sticky? It moves up and down smoothly when I lift it with my finger. I haven't had time to see if there any gack in the float bowl that might be keeping the valve open.

Can somebody come with me for a ride from the pub to Lyndhurst and back to see what's happening?

Matt, you going to be there? I need to chat about what to get for the engine fit. Money is not in plentiful supply at the moment...

Well folks,

Just thought I'd let you know about my wheel wobble... I swapped back to the old half shaft (fortunately it was unbroken on the side that was showing the wobble) and the wheel runs true. So the 'new' half shaft end is not flat and was pulling the bearing off centre a millimetre or so which adds up to a lot at the edge of the wheel. Not a happy bunny about being sold a duff part, especially after 1000 miles in France on it, but at least for now its all fixed. Will be on to the supplier to see what they will do about this.

Pub for this week?
White swan looks open again, or a new suggestion perhaps?

Hope you had a nice evening out gents.
Can I request that those that are attending the Nat's can post their day and leaving time.
There is a layby about 1/4m onto the A34 at Winchester (before the A33 split). I am aiming to leave home about 6am so will be passing/stopping there at approx 6.30am Saturday if anyone would care to join the convoy?

Also please note that it would appear that you cannoth exit the M1 junction adjacent to Swinford (Stanford Hall) from the south. My plan is to leave at the previous junction and go through Crick and Yelvertoft.

where are we this Thursday? was it Pete or Paul who said they had thought of somewhere new? anyway decision soon please folks

URGENT REQUEST

Matt:

you were going to see if you had an alternator for the mini, its gone from nice upgrade to must have now if you can have a look for me please (otherwise I'll have to buy one now)

I just got home on the worst bodge ever!

driving in the new forest in the mini, suddenly a horrible scream from under the bonnet and the charge light comes on. So I stop and take a look..... the dynamo has seized solid and i cant free it, no phone signal so I go for the only thing i can do...

I loosen the belt enough to let it slip the dynamo pulley but still keep the fan and everything else running, start him up with a constant squeal and drive on. watch the temperature gauge and when it starts to rise, assume the belt has worn down, so stop, nudge out the dynamo a fraction and then drive on (not stopping the engine while i do this as starts are expensive and no lights but did not need them) got home and there is not much of the belt left!

For tomorrow, can I suggest the Cuckoo Inn, Hamptworth? It's a really amazingly nice pub.

Its here, so have a look and see if you want to travel that far.

Of course, the Royal Oak is not too shabby either.
