The "gubbins" attaches to an "A" frame.
A lovely car Matt. You must be very thrilled with Derek!

More than thrilled
The towing hitch on the front was used by one of the previous owners to tow the car behind their motorhome as Dan says (it's a proper job and only adds to the structure of the car).
They used to drive to the campsite, setup camp and go around the local village/town in sunny spain in the Minor - where the car lived for 20 years - no wonder there's no rust!

When we went to look at the car I didn't get good look at the underneath (I left that to my friend

). Well I was taking a look underneath the car tonight and it turns out that the car has Spax suspension fitted front and rear

Sudden realisation when reading a thread on here, I told the insurance about the 'non-standard' wheels and it didn't make a difference to my insurance, I didn't tell them about the spax suspension

(didn't realise it was there when I phoned them).
Apparently only things that improve the performance of the car will effect the price. Do you think the spax suspension will up the price?

If anyone is interested the spax didn't make a blind bit of difference, phew!
