There is no risk of pistons meeting valves - unless you have the timing horribly wrong........

I have clean the distributor out this week. Checked everything was free and working. I replaced the points and condenser as a matter of course. Was the vac advance originally painted? I ended up painting the vac advance gold, thought it looked quited good.

just been working on the starter and dynamo this evening. found the starter is like new hardly any wear on the comuntator.
had the dynamo apart as well. wasnt very free to rotate before disassembly. found the armature was a tight fit in the field coils.
any thoughts?

Definitely not right - possible the field coils have 'swollen' somehow? Or any damage on the rotor? Hardly worth worrying about it - chase up an alternator in the scrappy!

I will start a new thread in the electrical section about the dynamo. just getting all the bits for the engine complete and finished so I can start on the body work.
