hi George its MDF
i think it was banned in the States many years ago
i take it that its changed its composition to a greener/safer product
and maybe sold as compressed fibreboard nowadays
as it is freely available in Britain

Hi,
What type of padding is that and where do you get it from? It looks a lot better (and healthier!) and more supporting, than the horsehair type material they were originally stuffed with.

Thanks. I think we still have it. I have it in my bathroom and it swells with water. It is hard and straight though when dry.

sorry i only seen your post today
its memory foam not the cheap lot but dunlop type it was surplus to our caravan bed
yes your right great comfort
only please remember to over it with plastic otherwise its a be***r to pull on the back vinyl cover
its about over an inch thick
