now on with the cork washer and fuel proof sealant for the fuel sender unit on the petrol tank[frame][/frame]

thats completed now the front end is re assembled and ready for the radiator, after a wipe down of course.[frame][/frame]

with everything back together, with an inch deflection adjusted in the fan belt, out went the ignition warning light, and into the battery went some current.[frame][/frame]

Managed to find page 39 pt 2. Must admit haven't followed every post, just assumed you had painted the panels seperately and then bolted up.

Some Blue Loctite on the threads of the crankshaft pulley bolt would have kept it on with or without the tab washer!

One job I have held back from till now is the damaged bumper bolt, the threads are totally burred over on the left side, so I decided to grind off the bolt and weld on a replacement. This will allow me to screw up the bolt tighter and get rid of the slight shimmey of the bumper.[frame][/frame]

a rotten old door trim panel I was saving to use as kidney covers was helpful at the grinding off stage to mask the paintwork, but it wouldn't cope with the heat of welding back on the replacement bolt, so masking tape and a sheet further up the body helped there.[frame][/frame]

with the new bolt welded on and the bumper bolted up, the whole bumper is firm and strong with no movement. Slight gap worries, but I'll adjust them later. Right now she's taking me to work.[frame][/frame]

Thank you Bob, praise indeed. In between nipping in-doors to catch Olympic events, I'm preparing for a light respray tommorow, I've got the compressor booked, now for some dust reduction, wetting down.[frame][/frame]

Knocks and nicks in her first year on the road, her first 1000 miles plus, and parking in a busy carpark doesn't help. Plus I'm getting used to reversing down a narrow drive to the garage every night. Thats my excuse...[frame][/frame]

and erm, my rear wheelarch needs attention...[frame][/frame]

along with paint faults from the original spaying, the bonnet badge mount needs some new paint.[frame][/frame]

Aren't bonnet hinges supposed to be left chrome? I see they're exposed (and blue) in that last shot.

yes, if there is any chrome. Mine where bare metal so I painted them body colour, I'll swap them over with new one fine day. In the meantime its body prep for spraying, and lots of elbow grease.[frame][/frame]

of course shortcuts never work when you are spraying, it's always best to spray the whole panel, rather than half, even in a simple blow over, the masking gives a slight trace of differing shade, looks like some wierd world war two German camouflage scheme, so a re-think later, and a re-mask to include panels up to demarkation lines.[frame][/frame]

with the front rear and sides blown over it was time to take the pickup carefully out into the sunshine to harden off the paint. The tailgate is looking good.[frame][/frame]

the bonnet and front wings ended up getting a full on re spray, just so the paint matched up, still another coat can't hurt.[frame][/frame]

the nearside, nearly a total success, but with all things paint related, there's always a hitch...[frame][/frame]

my only foul up, two runs on the rear arch, still, at least they are together in one easy to deal with place, once the runs dry out in the sunshine I'll flatten off and re spray the rear arch again.[frame][/frame]
