I think this is a good thing, there are plenty of other jobs to do building up brakes etc. Really spend some time sanding and filling and sanding and filling. Might even be worth getting a crappy 2nd hand compressor just so you can prime lots. At the end of the day it is the shiny paint job everyone looks at. Know what you mean about neighbours!

Seat belt anchorage points.

Theres three on a pickup (three on a saloon I think):
1. B post at about head height, cant miss it really is about 1/2 dia and threaded
2. At the rear end of the cab on the vertical face of the sill step (underneath the B post) towards the cab back panel.
3. Adjacent to the Handbrake on the floor panel about 3" foward of the cab back panel. On a Pickup the threaded nut is actually on the chassis and a enlarged hole in the cabs floor allows access.

If you need photos I can send you mine. Ive got statics in mine, they suit me fine. Im the only person that drives it.

oh blimey. Ive got some work to do there then, thanks Simon, really usefull pictures, even if I had to tilt my head over. Its a bit of a puzzle sometimes orientating yourself to an image, but there are plenty of reference points in there, thanks.

I hope I'm copying those locations in the right order here Simon, the rear of the cab floor, I'm guessing I'll need to weld on an attachment point here as its just smooth featureless metal on mine...[frame][/frame]

The floor fixing, goes through to the chassis, the hole in the floor is only clearance to access this fixing. Before fitting the appropriate bolt here you will need a stepped spacer, this allows the bolt to tighten but not grip the belt bracket, thus allowing it to swivel around.

It can't be this hole if the bolt goes through to the chassis then, this hole will just go through to the sill strengthening plate. Looks like ive got to drill a hole in my nice painted floor. Should there be a captive bolt in the chassis to receive the seat belt anchor bolt[frame][/frame]

Thats the correct hole in the sill step for the lower mounting. It'll have a reinforcing plate on the inside assuming its a new panel and the blt fits on there with no other brackets. If you're using inertia reels you may need to use an adaptor braket to mount them up and over the sill step to avoid the seats, but with standard seats you should be ok.

The two holes in the vertical panel are for the handbrake cables to go through. As this is a thin spotwelded panel its not really suitable for seatbelt mountings. The centre mount go down through the floor onto the body mounting plate on the chassis. It looks like you already have bolts in those holes on that picture. Then if you fit rigid stalks they will stick up alongside the seats inthe conventional manner. hope that helps.

david these are your original mounting points, as Iain says you currently have bolts in your floor, these must go through to the chassis plates,[frame][/frame]
