brakes
well spent an enjoyable morning doing the rear brakes on my van and put 2 new rear drums on as well.
now my question is this, everything went smoothly until i tried to fit the beehive springs.
i have managed to get them right but seemed to take ages.
is there an easy way of fitting these.

They hold the shoe to the packplate.
On other cars they use a pin that comes through from back of backplate, then it goes through a hole in shoe and a spring fits over it and a washer type thing fits over that. You compress the spring with the washer and then turn the washer 90 deg to lock it on to the pin.
Its true what they say," A picture is the same as a thousand words".

beehives
The usual tip is to cut a groove in the middle of an old straight bladed screw-
driver which you then insert into the beehive spring until it engages the centre
wire and then' push in and turn' until it locks. Far easier to throw them away though!!

I didn't get one with my new set of springs. I did replace the rear shoes, but no beehive springs. Nor the need to have them.
I did accidently put the long springs the wrong way round (inside out) but I soon figured that out!
