Wheels & Tracking
Hello All,
I’ve had a query from one of the Isle of Wight members regarding tracking. This member has changed from Crossplies to 145 Bridgestone radials on his split screen, but now complains of the steering being really heavy and the characteristics of the car have changed.
He has the tyres at 26 psi pressure and seems to remember reading that when you changed from Crossplies to Radials you also needed to adjust the tracking.
Anyone had any similar experiences?

I usually run them at 26, but they don't feel heavy unless they've leaked down to about 15
- must get that inner tube fitted in El's car
From my limited experience, radials give a different steering feel to crossys, but probably because there is a lot more rubber in contact with the tarmac.

Yep, they wear pretty evenly. Tyres vary really, but mostly Firestone, Michelin or anything I can find with tread on.
Are your wearing at the edges, outer edge only or in the middle?
145s or 155s? Well, really the rims are supposed to house closer to 135s, so the wider you go then the more distorted the tyre will be but I can't see that affecting the wear of the part on the road if your pressures are OK.
