Accelerator cable
Hi Guys,
I was so happy to be at the stage of having my engine back together, manifolds on, new water pumps, thermostats, alternator overhauled..it was all going so well.
Until I come to refit the throttle cable. For the life of me, something is just not right. It seems to rigged as per haynes manual cartoons and as I recall it came apart. But the inner cable does not want to move, on closer inspection, the ferrule at the carburettor end of the cable is missing (probably for years) so the end of the casing is pushed into the fitting. Would that make much difference? - and - How much inner cable should be pulled through? Does anyone have any better diagrams or photos of correctly rigged cable?
Thanks a million

Also check it has located correctly in the slotted hole in the pedal shaft. Sometimes it can grip the slot further up and potentially come loose at an awkward moment.you need to pull the inner cable tight to pull the accelerator pedal up, before you fix the cable to the carb !
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Thanks again chaps, I will check it all again using your suggestions. Pedal up, something to hold it in place, then pull the cable tight through and tighten. Hook spring on last - Thank god I dont have to rig a choke cable..it never had one fitted!
