I was just woondering, do any of you know where I can get the metal meshl filter for my USHM2 oil pump? the one I have is in pieces

Is this for the side valve engine ? Any chance of a picture ?

Well it is for the sidevalve indeed. Hence the USHM2 number. That is the sidevalve without waterpump, the USHM3 being the one with provision for one. And I haven't got a picture

Hmmm - maybe need to chase up some fine mesh from local hardware store, and solder it on. Don't make it too fine or cold oil may not flow through it very well.

I'll wait for the supplier to come up with something. But I do have the old mesh, so I can compare it if need be

Sorry for my ignorance - although I did at one time have 3 Morris Series E cars (at the same time !) - the reference USHM2 had no meaning for me - I was just checking it was indeed for a side valver - i could possibly have found an inlet filter for an ohv.

Oh yes - I do know of the side valver project. Good luck with it. Did some of the tuning companies at that time not bring out an ohv conversion - or was it just an alloy head (Alta ?) conversion ?

They did, but they are a bit of a rarity and those who have them won't part with them for reasonable money. PLEASE SOMEONE PROVE ME WRONG ON THAT POINT!

How much bhp did a shorrock'd and Alta'd MM put out? I heard it outruns a standard 1098

Well, I heard that each one (not together) produces around the same output as the 1098, but I have never driven one so I can't really say.

Put both on and you'll have a GTi eater!

(well, if the GTi is misfiring and has a slipping clutch).

My previous car was a VW GTi mk 2, great fun, and easyish to work on. A great mile-eater on motorways, but the Morris is MUCH more fun!

Any idea what mesh it is ? I might have some stainless mesh at work that would do the job. Not sure how easy it would be to solder.
