Cardboard seat form/liner ??

Post by Suuuu »

I am restoring my '64 Morris pickup that came from New Zealand. When I took off the seat covers I found these cardboard seat forms instead of the nornal slats, etc. Does anyone know where I can get new ones - as the old ones are pretty beat up. Thanks for any help anyone!
take care, Sue
p.s. I have pictures if that will help

Never seen that on any of mine, but I only have 5 :D The NZ ones were built in Britain I think, but it might be worth asking on the Australian board (they built them there) and seeing if anyone knows more about them, even though they have no pick-ups built as recently as that, and didn't build them with separate seats - a lot of the NZ guys use that board too - oh, and pics would be useful, in case I'm missing something. I couldn't find them in any of the online spares shops either. AUpickup will probably be on soon, and may well know exactly what it is you're after. Good luck :D

i have had early pick ups and one around the age of yours as well, never found that on any of mine either.
it just may have been an export idea, or indeed the original webs may have rotted and some one just put the slats in.
export models did have a few differences, but seats i would have thought fairly syandard through the range.
a picture would be useful

I'm sorry, but I don't know how to attach or send a picture - but here's a link to my photos online - at webshots.com at the link below
look under Ed the pickup #2 album - the last pictures. Thanks!

There it is - 'cos I can :D Have to say I've never seen that in a Morris or Austin before. I reckon it's the seat from something else.
Tell Ed he's now a desktop picture over here, BTW, and give him love from Bunny, Arthur, Noggin, The Yellow One and the as yet un-named one :D
