Hi Nikki,
The acid dip and neutralisation (?) costs £500. To etch prime by spraying is a further £350. They do not yet offer zinc coating, as this finish is rapidly going out of fashion due to emmissions and regulations. The E coat is about £800, and is by far the best coating as every surface is coated inc internals, not normally reached by spraying. The E coat also means that not only is the surface protected but any waxoyle /Dinitrol application is not strictly required. SPL are found in Dudley west midlands. just off the M5.

I'm guessing then that they use the original 'dipping holes' that the minor has to do all this???

The cars are just loaded onto a metal pallet and lowered into the tanks. No structure is mounted to the minor body.

I have to take two more cars in the near future so will take before and after pics next time. The panels we have had done are all etched now, so not too usefull here. The standard of clenliness is amazing though, as everything is removed in the process. Welding is so easy on this new surface. The company advise that you leave the bare metal for no more than 3 days, and definately do not get it wet. I experimented with a few parts, and left them uncovered in the workshop. 3 weeks later they are only just picking up, and only where they have been handled.
If there is enough interest I'm prep[ared to put together enough panels or other parts to make up a pallet load for dipping. Parts can be tagged easily for identification.
SPL also do WRC rally cars so they can remove the excess weight of underseal and sound deadening. Now that is dedication !!!

How big are the pallets? Car size, I guess, but could you have that area covered in parts? If one was to dip (say) a pick-up bed, could one fill the area in the middle of the bed with parts? Mind chundering away, Mogs rotting away, 8 bed sides needing stripping...

I think that most loose parts are put in metal cages, but yes the pallets will fit an large car so several p/up backs could be done in one go!.
