Givn that certain rear damper coversions have had bad press, what do we think of these?

Looks like a version of a certain JLH turreted kit, Cam can probably tell what the differences are as he has the original fitted.
And to answer FAB you have to cut a hole in the boot floor and weld the turrets in place which gives a far better shocker angle.

Looks to be OK, but there are no floor spreader plates that weld to the turret/floor for support. Also, no joining bar between the two turrets for added support/stiffness. The joining bar also welds to the diff bump for extra support.

Personally, I would get a price from JLH first, although that kit does seem OK (but I'd get some 3mm steel and add some spreader plates).

I'm glad you chipped in with that Cam. I did wonder if that was necessary.
Tell me, is that cross beam set at 45° to facilitate welding every face?

It's at that angle so that both sides of it can be welded to the diff bump. that angle just happens to be the angle of the square section when a side (two corners) are in contact with the diff bump. It DOES have the advantage though of enabling easy welding access.

The floor in that area has absolutely no strength at all. If the dampers are going to do any worthwhile damping you MUST strengthen the whole area - and brace it to anything solid you can find. At least on the saloon there is the rear seat back diaphragm to help stiffen things up. Poor old Traveller has nothing!

Jonathon did, but thanks to the side-to-side support, floor spreader plates and additional support plates it worked very well.
