CAN ANYBODY HELP WITH THE CAR I HAVE JUST AQUIRED AND AM HAVING RESTORED I HAVE A CHASSIS NUMBER OF MNR/S SMM/16712 AND ENGINE 10678 IT IS A TOURER/CONVERTABLEAND REGISTERED HERE IN SRI LANKA 15/2/1950 SO VERY POSSIBLY A 1949 TOURER, BUT A COUPLE OF THINGS,
SMM/16712 would have been manufactured around April/May 1949. Your car should also have circular rear lamps and not the larger rectangular ones.
1 THE WINDSCREEN HAS A SLIGHT DIP IN IT IN THE CENTRE, IS THAT NORMAL
How do you mean a dip? Also, do you mean in the centre of the total screen area or an individual one?
AND ALSO THE BONNET ALONG THE BULKHEAD HAS A CURVED EDGE
If you mean it's shorter than the later style bonnets and it does not meet the rain gutter (like the later ones) then this is correct for an early car.
If you could take some pictures of the problem areas we can tell you if it's 'normal' or if there is a problem.
