More woe with maggie

Post by johnm »

Maggie seems to be having one of those "I'm old so expect regular ailments" periods

Having sorted the alternator problems my wife had a moment when the brake pedal sank all the way to the floor. There's plenty of fluid, so my diagnosis is master cylinder seals on the way out. She's had wheel cylinders from time to time but it's aeons since I last replaced a master cylinder.

Can anyone confirm my diagnosis or come up with some other explanation I ought to consider??

I'd go with amaster, if there's no signs of leaks anywhere.

If the fluid level in the reservoir hasn't dropped then yes, Master piston seal
is likely cause. If fluid level has dropped then look inside the chassis leg
to see if the fluid is there. either way it looks like another nasty job.

Have a check round all the wheel cylinders first.
