Door and Door Lock

I recently bought a 2 door saloon and has door problems...

First, driver's door does not shut properly unless I bang the door. When I open the door, it feels like door slightly come down. I have had a look where the door attached, however the bolts themselves looks attached properly.

At the same time, door handle is not properly attached to the door and this makes (I think) not working the lock properly. When I shut the door (with bang!) the lock still does not work, and some local garage person told me it probably just barrel, but I'm not convinced that he is entirely right. (and also I have not around to bring this to local Morris Minor centre yet...)

I just wondered can anybody help me! Thanks in advance!

Spray the catch plates and locks liberally with WD40 and see if that helps.

However, it may be that you have a rotten door hinge post which allows the door to drop. Wind down the window and grab the door frame at the top left, then pull upwards. If the door moves upwards significantly then chances are the door hinge post is flexing.

If the 'A' post is rotted at the bottom you will see it moving
at the bottom when you lift the door up and down. If it does
not move then see if the actual hinges have excessive play.
if it is the hinges it is possible to buy an oversize hinge pin
which will remove all play when you drill the hinges out to
the new matching size. Regarding the door not shutting,
the door part of the handle is not adjustable but the latch
which is mounted on the 'B' pillar IS. If you slacken the two
screws you can move the latch in or out until the door shuts
more easily. If this results in the door not being flush with
the body when closed then we can give you more ideas.

I'm not too good with names of parts.

I assume the A post is the front one, and the B post is halfway back down the car? Well I had a look last night - the actual body of the car appears solid - it's the hinge that's moving, so I'll try your suggestion of using a larger hinge pin. I assume this is the pin going vertically down through eh actual hinge, rather than the screws attaching it to the door. Would it be easier to buy a new hinge? I think I can manage the adjustment of the latch without any further help.
Also, the lock on the driver's door doesn't actually work. Is replacing the mechanism as straight-forward as it sounds? (or replacing the barrel)?

If you are sure that the hinge pins are worn(you can see the
parts of the hinge moving against each other) then you can
order the oversize hinge pins. Try 01562 747718 his
parts list includes new hinges,reconditioned hinges,and
oversize hinge pins(you have to drill out the hinges with
an 0.328" drill). If you do remove the hinge pins,they
knock out UPWARDS......the top section is knurled to
stop them revolving, and mark around the position of
the hinges on the doors and the 'A' pillars BEFORE you
remove them. Yes the 'A' pillar is the front door hinge
upright, the 'B' pillar is the front door latch pillar, and
on a 4 door the rear door latch pillar is the 'C' pillar.
Never removed a door lock but believe you will find
that the door glass is a major obstacle.....
