brake pedal

Post by g_land »

folks

i just put in a new return spring and it seems to be way to strong, the pedal ends up about 3 inchs above the clutch pedal. is there some way to adjust this or is it just a case of waiting for the sring to relax a bit

regards,

george

The brake pedal comes up until it hits the floor so, unless something is missing down there it would now seem as it should be so you should check
the clutch pedal to see if the return spring is missing from that (under the car
on the clutch adjusting rod). The maximum free play on the clutch pedal
before it operates the clutch is one and a half inches (1098) but that free play
should still be spring loaded.

thanks for that, i saw not thinking, i still have the gearbox cover off so the brake pedal is not restricted, putting the gearbox cover on will stop the pedal rising so much. stupid no brain moment.

clutch adjustment is fine, no problems there.
