My vision ...

Post by asbomog »

Hi all - I have a vision of beauty ( in my eyes any way ) .
A 'modernised' 2 door saloon converted to a 2 door convertible. It'll have disk brakes - prob JLH - , 5 speed box ( sierra type 9 ) , mg metro head/cam with twin su and an improved exhaust.

Am i going too fast ...

She'll ( it's a girl of course ) is shiny black with not too excessive alloys.

Do you think it's reasonably do-able?

[ At present IT is a ropey , half welded , non running '65 moggy - mine already cos IT was cheap - but in need of much much much work ]

It is very doable, but requires some major cash spending

Sounds extraordinarily do-able - go for it :D Don't forget the convertible strengthening bits.

Try driving the car as standard for a while, you may be surprised at how good a well sorted standard car is!
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Better do something about the suspension. Comes before alloy wheels on priority list.

I'll second that. Suspension and brakes first, then review it from there.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Don't forget that no matter how much you budget for , it will cost more.

After saying that, I don't regret any penny of the money I spent on my alloys. I'm so pleased I decided against putting the standard wheels back on the truck after it's conversion.
