anyone know where this plate came from? its from the lowlight, with no documentation to support my claim,theres a horrible chance i may be issued with a ghastly Q plate

FJB series numbers were issued by Berkshire county between July 1949 and November 1949. I would suggest yours was a September car. Has the MM club any other FJB's listed which may give a clue as to supplying dealers in the county in those days? Busguy

Is requesting a Heritage Certificate an option? If you have a couple of months, that is. This will show where and when it was delivered. Nothing to do with reg though.
DVLA doesn't have it on record I suppose?

I enquired about a convertible once which was Q plate, and was told that wasn't tax exempt... so I think he's right.

Post porduction convertibles registered on a Q plate are a different case to the average minor - however with a bit of assistance from the right people you can avoid a Q plate anyway.

You should be able to keep the FJB plate. I manbaged to keep my DTB plate on the 57 despite having no original documentation. I used a BMIHT certificate together with the V765 form.
These days you also need to get the forms approved by the relevant club (the MMOC in our case), but that is a simple process and was done was quick + helpful when I did it on the PDC car

yes any motor with a q plate has to be taxed that is becose thay can not find the real age no matter what once it has been issued with a q it stays with a q unless you reshell

Steve, get in touch with Rob Thomasson (his details are in Minor Matters) - he deals with getting original plates issued with the DVLA via the MMOC!

went off in the post this morning, if he cant help me im stuffed. i suppose rob has to decide if its a genuine claim
