There is a number on the manifold side of the engine, the right side of it. There should be a plate stating 1100 or different. Do you perhaps have the engine number? You can find this under the nr 1 sparkplug.

Also it's a 948 not a 958.

The plates either say '1100' or '950' on them if they have the plates.

Easiest way is the engine number - if it begins with a 10 then it's 1098! The older 948 engines didn't have a thermometer take-off point on the cylinder head (below /beside the theromostat housing)- the later 1098 engines do have this. Also - if you take off the rocker cover the cylinder head part number is cast on the upper surface of the head - will be 12G 202 if it's 1098.

A 948

It was very difficult to have the answer from the owner ...

But with the indications found here ...he finally tell me what the engine is .
In fact he didn't know the year of the car , nor the engine type , and in the ad , he call her a MORRIS BREAK ( station wagon in French) ...

Anyway , she was apparently in a very sorry state , so i'm on another one ...1098 , and restored ...
Hope my bank manager will follow :D :D

My english is not very good so could you explain
"And do you actually take your Minor on the BP ? "

Thank's

BP = Boulevard Peripherique! Last time I struggled round that it look me 2 hours to get from junction 6A to the A1 - and then I discovered it was 'ferme' - so had to make my way cross country (with about 10,000 others) to get to CDG !! Finally got there at midnight, having left Bourges at 5pm. I just can't imagine trying to drive the BP in a Minor!!!!

A real nightmare the "perif" , that's why i don't use any car in Paris ( except my Fiat 500 occassionaly . The rest of the time a Honda 125 SH is the best way to travel ....

When i'll finally found my Traveller , i'll only use it on B roads 8) 8)

Surely not !!

I'm not "banging" any cars ! (exept the one that forgot to use their mirror before changing lane :-))))

And a minor is not exactly a car but a little piece of England (and scotland   )
So no risk of banging 8)
