Ignition switch wires

Post by maxwoods »

Can anybody advise:

I had a mystery ignition problem which involved changing battery, solenoid and ignition switch, all of which were duff!!!

It is a '71 pickup, with dash mounted ignition switch, secured with a locking ring.

Like a fool I forgot to label the contacts on the ignition switch, so i have 4 wires(brown with blue stripe. thick white, thin white and white with red stripe) and 3 terminals on the back of the replacement switch,(one single terminl marked '1', and two double connectors, one marked '3' and the other not marked at all, but I assume is terminal '2'

Does anyone know which goes where?

Happy new year to you all

Max

YES....number 1 contact has white/red on it, number 2 has both whites on it, and number 3 has brown/blue.

Pick Up now started after lying dormant for 10 years.

Petrol had also turned to jelly in carburettor float bowl and jet feed pipe!!

MOT soon.
