Hi all,
I'm going to re-do the brake master cylinder and bits on Saturday and I've painted the rather rusty push rod which attaches to the brake pedal. I had a horrible thought though. By painting this item am I going to get paint into my master cylinder? My logic being: as rod pushes piston, brake fluid seeps past seals and reacts with paint, which is then slowly drawn back into the master cylinder and thus knackering it.
Humm? I know the cups should keep the brake fluid inside the cylinder but surely some gets past?
Any ideas?
Cheers
Jim
Am I about to do something stupid?

Not if it's working. Otherwise you'd lose your fluid quite quickly.I know the cups should keep the brake fluid inside the cylinder but surely some gets past?
