brake problem
ok
brakes have ben just fine until today.
while driving, brakes were ok then suddenly a lot of pedal movement, still stopped though.
got home and checked all cylinders for leaks but they were all ok.
checked master cylinder for leaks but none there either.
checked all joints and they are all ok.
brakes will stop but with now excessive pedal movement.
what suddenly could have happened.

brakes
Try pushing hard on the brake pedal and see if your foot
slowly goes down to the floor....if so then your Master cylinder
is allowing fluid to by pass the piston. Next, try pumping the
brake pedal rapidly. If the pedal goes down less far each time
you pump then some or all of the brake shoes are too far away
from the drums although this is not likely to happen suddenly
unless something has broken(one of the adjusters)?

disturbing
This is disturbing... In my post above I did not write if the
brakes need "I like skodas" I used the usual term for pumping
air out of the brakes. I have tried to correct this but someone
appears to have done something which ensures that when I
write that term it always appears as "I like skodas". Not at all
funny and if people are going to interfere with our postings there
could be serious consequences!! I will report it to the Webmaster

Willie! Do you not think that b l e e d i n g could be an expletive, in certain circumstances?
In which case, it has been automatically removed to save our delicate ears...
I remember it used to come up with "oops I typed a naughty word" every time an expletive was used.

Maybe it needs altering so that it comes up with a
smilie. I've seen some on other sites, that are a little more explicit, such as:
.
I wonder if the included smilies could be amended to include something like this, and the coding altered...?
Update:
I've just emailed Billy, so he knows about the situation.

ok to continue my saga with the brakes.
i bled the brakes today, but when the bleed nipple was opened i could only get 1 downstroke on the brake pedal successfully, consequent downstrokes were very hard to push down and on a couple of occasions nigh impossible.
so i would assume there is a blockage some where in the system, bleed nipples wwere quite rusty as well.

That doesn't make a lot of sense Dennis! It seems that you
CAN press the brake pedal and stop the car but when you open
a bleed nipple you CANNOT press the pedal more than once??
Of course, when you open a bleed nipple you are removing all
resistance to operation of the pedal UNLESS there is a fault in
the Master cylinder. Have you tried opening a one of the
other bleed nipples?
