ello friends,as u know i won the crankcase on ebay last night ,sorry to the muckers i beat to it,just hope its ok,seemed a really genuine fella, can anyone confirm it is 1098, and looking at the bores, no verticle scores/marks at all, its looks unused ,hopefully backed up by no rusty/signs of water in waterway, still got paint in there ,no;s r

I didnt think the 1098 had the blanking plate - the diameter of the bores should tell you the engine size.

If it has the blanking plate, it was an Austin engine, not a Morris one. No other difference really, 'cept it may have neen intended for low compression, but I think that only affected head/pistons

Yes worth a go - 1098 is 64.58mm bore & 948 is 62.94mm bore - only 1.5mm diff but you should be able to tell?

Looked like gen 1098 block to me - well bought. The 202 head is nothing exciting - just the standard head for that engine.
