Introduced When?
Hey all. Haven't been on her for what seems like an age! Agh Uni work!
Well...
Looking through colour codes books and the like, I noticed that some say the Smoke Grey, The colour of my dear Boris (see sig pic), wasn't introduced to the range of saloons until 1970. Boris is an early G reg' (late '68, so not even a '69) and this has been her original colour.
So which is right? The book of facts or the real car?

SMOKE GREY was available from Feb 1959 right up to the latter part of 1970.

Cheers, so the bull Motif website as well as the classic colour pamflets can now be noted as wrong as they state 1970 as introduction.
Blimey, I'd better sort my sig pic out again, I didn't think I had gone for that long!

Since the saloons were discontinued in November 1970 that doesn't make sense! 'Original Morris Minor' states that smoke grey was introduced in February 1959 and continued until the end of saloon production. They stopped using it on travellers in July 1969 and used Bermuda blue from then on.I noticed that some say the Smoke Grey, The colour of my dear Boris (see sig pic), wasn't introduced to the range of saloons until 1970.
My car is a G reg (March 69) and the interior is clearly faded smoke grey.

But as said above there seem to be more black and Trafalgar blue survivors.HarryMango wrote:Here's an interesting factoid - did you know that there were more Minors produced in Smoke Grey than any other shade.

I always wondered if some paint colours were not better at rust prevention than others?
If you look at 70's Leylands the beige/sandy colour seemed to last forever and that bright orange on mini's seems to have more than it's fair share of survivors.
My mog is Traffy blue
under the BT yellow.
