oil pipe

can any one tell me what purpose does the oil pipe (just above the oil switch)serve from the oil filter housing to the side of the engine, and is it realy needed.

The one that takes the oil from the engine to (or from) the filter? That one's fairly important.

Thanks Andrew, I have just stood on mine earlier today and bent it can I cut the bend out and put a piece of flexy pipe in

Just get another - I'm sure they're not exactly in short supply!

I can't remember if ones from all the other A series fit, but if so it opens up the chances of getting one locally and cheaply I'd think :)

I would not recommend that, if it slips off or bursts when you are running you will dump all your engine oil in a very quick time.

If memory serves this is a pretty direct feed from the pump so at full pressure you will dump all your oil quite quickly too

Hi Ray, at the most northernly tip on the Island, Bull Bay nr Amlwch, very popular with divers serching the ship wrecks so if you passing I can put you in sight of some. :wink:

I am a member of various forums on the net and the MM forum I have found to be the most helpful, and I would like to say a big thank you to you all and you are a credit to the club of which I am proud to be a member, although I do not attend rallies (funds being some what limited for an OAP) I do enjoy reading the message board and I feel as thou I no you all personally Willie,Alec,Andy to name just 3 but the list is endless. Keep up the good work all for with out you the Moggy novice's amongst us would have no one to turn to.
