TWIN CARBS

Post by mabelminor »

Hello All
While we were at Knebwoth the other weekend we picked up a set of twin carbs (strombergs) complete with manifold which the seller assured us would fit straight onto our moggy ,talking to a mechanic the other day he insisted that we should have a grade 1 upgrade to the cylinder head ? I would appreciate your ideas and opinions
Many Thanks

Presumably he meant a stage 1 upgrade.

This will involve removing the head and having machining work done to it.

This is not neccesary to allow that carbs to work. They can be set up to run on your standard engine. However if you do have the head work done it will give you more power.

just watch your fuel consumption. I am lead to believe that twin carbs will increase it. I would be keen to hear your experiences on this.

You can actually get an improvement in fuel consumption with properly set up twin carbs IF you take it easy......................

Trouble is that most people that fit twins DON'T take it easy (hence the need for fitting them!!) so they get worse economy!!! Actually most people get worse economy due to them not being set up properly AND having a lead foot!
