sooty van

Post by chilly »

My van is leaving sooty marks on the drive. Not sure whether its running too rich, I've looked at the plugs which seem to be the perfect colour. Don't think its buning oil (no blue smoke).
Can it be simply the fact that the exhaust pipe on commercials point downwards and that the sootyness is normal?
Cheers

If you have "sooty marks" you should "Sweep" them up :)

Probably when you start up on choke (mega rich). My cars are prone to it too.

My traveller used to leave a HUGE sooty mark (either on the floor of the garage or on the front wall of the house) - the engine then died

Well that's looking on the bright side!

Actually now that you come to mention it, MY garage door suffers from the mark(s) too.

Mine does most of its starting on gravel here, so the marks don't show, but I was pretty shocked at the marks it left on the nice new road outside Multiphonnikk's house :-(
