i'm in the process of replacing the window channels for the rear sliding windows of my recently purchased traveller.
there was quite a bit of water getting in through the bottom window channel by the b post.
on removal i found that there were no drain holes in the channel, and that the channel was not screwed or bonded to the wood at all!!!!
as this is my first traveller(we have a convertable and have had several saloons over the years) i would like to know the best/correct way to seal the channels to the wood.
i've heard that dum dum is the stuff to use, but have no idea what it is! is it like a glue or a putty or something else... also is it better/easier to use than something like sikaflex(a very good marine polyurethene sealant). any tips and advice on what is best to use is much appreciated.
dum dum?

The window rails are normally pinned or screwed into place. I would not suggest that you permenantly fix these with an adhesive. The drain holes should be punched into the rail to allow the water to drain out. I seal between the two runners with dumdum and also both ends. then seal the internal capping rail to the inner slider rail. This normally keeps water out. Always keep a check on the drain holes in the wood to make sure they are clear at all times.

If you can't find Dum Dum putty locally, all the major Moggie spares suppliers (such as ESM) do it, its good stuff!
