The dampers. I've been having fun on the Oz site, astonishing myself with loads of new facts about the export and CKD models.

Well according to my info they were bigger units for more demanding terrain. In those days they fitted bigger units to cope with the higher stresses. Hmmm... wonder why they didn't just chuck thicker oil in??

Can't remember the reference now but it was in one of the popular books on the subject.

I'll go hunting through them then, thanks. Another thing to waste hours looking for at shows too

I was not aware of any Wolseley/Riley versions of the chassis!
From memory at least the Riley 1.5 and the Australian Morris Major used the minor 'chassis' (floorpan, sills, crossmember etc). If anyone here has a photographic memory can they please read Skilleter's book because it's all covered in there. My brains not always up to it!

Well, if it helps, I replaced the leaf springs with Pyoor's help a year or so ago on Hebe. It took a day and a half - partly because we had to get one of the old locating pins out without braking it. With a completely new set of locating pins, U-blots, nulock nuts etc, I reckon you can replace the springs in a day provided you've got an angle grinder to hand!

The 7 - leaf springs don't (I think) have any difference in fitting to the standard ones:)

We've even got a very poor video about it somewhere - on Pyoor's site: http://www.pyoor.org/
