First one - to engage reverse with a SII gearbox is it normal to have to lift the lever or does this imply a problem?
Second one - I presume that the SII gearbox takes engine oil - please let me know if that's wrong.
Third one - the petrol filler pipe is longer than on my 1000 saloons - is that normal? (the original pipe has a locking cap but no key, and the ones from the other cars are too short )
Is the SII propshaft interchangeable with a Minor 1000?

where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block
RAY.. yes, it is normal to have to lift the lever to obtain reverse.
The gearbox uses engine oil. No knowledge of the petrol tube.
The 'bible' states that the prop shaft is the same as on both the
MM model and on the later 1098 cars.
Thanks Fred!
You're a mountain of useful information - as always ;-)

The MM prop is different. It has the same type of flange on both ends, not a spline like the SII or 1000. Anyway, have you got a SII prop or 1000 one? If you are stuck for a Minor 1000 one, I have a spare you can have...
I don't know if it is Minor 1000 prop or seriesII, but it fitted ok to the SII box (well - it was pursuaded to fit).
If they are different I may well need a Minor 1000 prop when I do the LHD conversion with a 1098 box.
