Radiator Size

Post by Minor »

I am installing a 1275 from a midget into my traveller.
Will I need to change my radiator?
I have the radiatir from the midget, as well as the original traveller radiator.
Also do I need to modify my motor mounts?
and do I need to modify the gearbox mount?
Thanks

The Minor radiator should be fine if it's in good condition (worth back-flushing it while it's out). The Minor is generally reckoned to have more cooling than it needs so it should cope with a 1275 with no problems.

Don't know about engine mounts or gearbox, I've a feeling it's not a straight swap due to the clutch operation but hopefully someone else has been there before and can advise.

i have a 1275 ital engine in my van and that used the original radiator and engine mounts, i think you only need to change the mounts if you want to use the ital and marina gearbox.
by the way i have the midget gearbox installed as well.

what 1275 engine is it ?

Radiator

Thanks for the Info
So, It should be a fairly straight foward swap to put a 1971, 1275 Midget engine and it's matching 4 speed gearbox into my traveller?
Any problems with the clutch linkage or carb / gas linkage?
And the Radiator will work.

Well a spridget clutch is hydralic (sp?) and a minor one is mechanical. From what others have said here (and I don't know if its true) the easiest way to make the clutch mechanism work is to get a hydraulic clutch conversion for the minor and hook it up to the spridget box...

you can have a mechanical linkage akin to the moggie gearbox, on the midget box, just makes it a bit harder to push the pedal, never found that to be a problem with mine though.
