Type of Servo

Post by wanderinstar »

Can anyone tell me what type of servo is supplied with the kits for the Minor? Is it the Lockheed Type 6 as fitted to the MGB?

Well, it's a 'Delphi' type 6 and 7, according to the booklet that comes with it - I can never remember who owns the names of what nowadays, Ray does, but I reckon it's probably a Lockheed really...

Delphi basically took over some aspects of AP Lockheed except for AP racing. Lockheed no longer produce their own parts as the factory has been demolished for several years. I think they had been using out sourced parts for some time anyway. I'm sure Ray has more info as the factory was opposite his house.
The Type 6 is the one to use as it has the correctly proportioned amount of assistance.

I used to work in block 17 and block 19 and some of my colleagues had spent their entire working lives at AP (not many of those guys left now). Our old offices are still standing, but I think they are currently rented by Delphi - nearly all the buildings have been flattened and the remaining production was sold to a Chinese group.
Delphi bought the rights to use the AP logos something like 6 years ago, so can sell anything they want as a Lockheed replacement. Lockheed didn't produce a lot of the old spares themselves due to low volumes so even when it was in a Lockheed box it wasn't really an OEM part.
