Hi :)

I've driven an LPG minor before : A '62 traveller with standard engine and LPG was a bit on the slow side, but then a '62 traveller is pretty slow :D

If you've got an A series 1275 you'll be laughing with the conversion - but you will need an unleaded head.

There are plenty of companies out there who will do the conversion - and if you're in any doubt get them to do it as the installation has to be certified.

Practical Classics did an article a few months back about converting a classic to LPG.

Good luck!

Godfrey Crew has an LPG conversion on his 'bomb disposal' van and I think he's very happy with it. I think he can be contacted via the LCV register or by having a word with RussLCV on here (who runs the LCV register).

'Wanderinstar' on here has lpg Minor - seems to be great for him - I think it is 1098 with 1275 head. I'm sure he will be along soon to explain. Lots of second hand LPG stuff on ebay. Up here LPG is only 30p/litre - I used to have an LPG Vectra - but it kept 'exploding' when starting which my wife didn't like. But at the current cost of petrol I am again seriously considering a conversion for my new Meriva ! The new kits inject the fuel as liquid directly into the manifold - so much more efficient than the older system where it was sucked in as gas.

As usual it is, but if they raise it slowly then people don't panic... very moral attitude by the very people appointed to serve US not the other way around!

Yes I converted my Moggie about 2 years ago. Yes it is slightly slower than petrol. But my way round that was to tune engine a bit, i.e. 1 3/4" carb and waterheated inlet manifold. I have a 35 litre tank that I fill up for about a tenner. Put an article in Minor Matters a while ago.

and the thing with lpg is that if thay put the price up like the petrol you can just pop down to a place were you can get gas bottles and fill from there .
fuel prices here are some facts
in kuwait the cost of petrol is £0.00 you just give a donation to the filling station ,in iraq it was 2 years ago 100 ltr was $1
in canada it is 35 cents a ltr
so richard you are right there just too damed greedy

Egg-salad-actly as my girlfriend would say.

Out of interest, does anyone have any thoughts on which engines are best when converting to LPG? It's important to me when I have Hebe taken off the road to put a suitable engine in which can be tuned to LPG (and yes, I know it's got to have an unleaded head :) )

Nikki,
You can convert almost any engine to LPG from an 850 Mini to a 5.3 Jag. As I said earlier tune it up a bit to overcome slight power loss on gas.
