Be aware that the half shafts are not all that strong. Big power increase can mean broken shaft if not careful. Worry about the brakes too - 57 Minor had the truly dreadful 7" front drums.

mines got marina front discs and am looking for a mk2 ford escort rear axle as ive been told these can be converted to discs as well. what do you think.
also if these are getting harder to find what parts are required to slip in the k-series engine e.g which gearbox, fitting kit who does them etc....

Hardly any Minor left then ! May as well go for a Ford engine - to match the gearbox and the axle.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

From readng the JLH website I'm pretty sure the K series engine has to be modified itself before it'll go comfortably in a Minor. Some metal needs to be removed on the block (or similar).

btw, I too want a 1275. Bagsy the midget lump!

The K series mods are only to enable the fitting of the starter motor and only entails the trimming of some mouldings. The crank needs to be machined and a Ford spigot fitted. We can now do this with the crank in situe. The front pulley also needs machining down. A full fitting kit is available, details on the website.
We can convert the Escort MK11 axle to disc brakes but to be honest the 9" drums we normally fit do an excellent job, and you will gain no mechanical benefit from fitting discs. They do look cool, do the job in hand and offer easy maintenance though. You will need the earlier Series11 brake m/c as this offers a greater capacity of fluid.Any questions please ask  :D

I've now got two in-line 1275 cranks, and several 1275 Mini blocks - just need someone to come up with a way of sealing the rear main bearing - since on the Mini it's just allowed to pour down into the gearbox. Any ideas - anyone ??

The Owen Burton seal kit is an idea (not a perfect idea though, but if the crank flange is ok, it might work)

Aye - but I suspect it still relies on the main bearing cap having a sealing edge to fit round the lower half of the crank - which the Mini cap does not. Still - I may do a trial assembly and see if anything looks to be possible.
