:cry: Hi All,
the fuel pump is tick,tick,tick,so i read the post on fuel pump clean points did that nice and steady put it back toghter and the dam thing is ticking 10 times faster now as though there is no fuel but there is fuel what is the trouble now. P.S if the pump pumps what diffence
does it make when the engine running u cant hear it also the 1 way valve thingy in the float bowl will stop fuel any way wont it ? or am i daft and it is more complex than that .

Yes, the float valve will stop the pump when the bowl is full up unless
it is not working properly. You will soon know if that is the case as
fuel will pour from the top of the bowl. If the pump ticks more than
normally you could have an air leak on the inlet side from the tank,
or the cleaning of the points has thrown the setting of the pump
diaphragm out of kilter( this is set up after a complete strip down
and must be accurately done). You could also try cleaning the filter
which is in the inlet side of the pump.

Sounds like the float needle valve may be passing - check it out. As above - you need to set up the points carefully - read the manuals to see how. If you leave it ticking it won't last a month !!
