Mystery AA badge, possible prototype?
I thought I had seen all the UK issue AA badges until the middle one turned up last week. So my simple question is what is the middle badge? It has been suggested by a work colleague that it is a prototype from 1967 when they were redesigning the old style badge to the modern square badge. It is also worth knowing that this turned up in Basingstoke, home of the AA from the early seventies.

It doesn't appear on the AA website regarding Badge History: https://www.theaa.com/about-us/aa-history/car-badges
I agree it could be a 'missing link' in the evolution of the badge.
Perhaps contact them as see if they are aware of it's existence.

Bill,
Many thanks for this. I didn't realize that they were still issuing committee badges this late.
Again thanks.

Interesting indeed, the AA website implies the Committee Member version ceased in 1967 with the arrival of the square badge.aj-wilkinson wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2026 1:51 pm Bill,
